Services Tuesday for Arlene Burnett, 88

Arlene Burnett (nee Kaleta), age 88, formerly of Hammond, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2020.

She was born on November 19, 1931, in Calumet City, IL.

Arlene is survived by her daughter, Sheree (Chris) DeLache of Porter, IN, and granddaughter, Emily (Jordan) Minch of Indianapolis. She also leaves behind a niece and a nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Mary (Levandowski) Kaleta; siblings, Frances King, Gladys Olar-Hoholek, Thomas Kaleta and grandchildren, Paul and Kelly DeLache

Arlene worked for many years at the Calumet National Bank in Hammond. After that she became a successful Realtor where she enjoyed working for many agencies in Indiana and Illinois. She was a member of the Chesterton YMCA where she loved to participate in all of the senior activities. She loved art, carving, drawing and painting. She enjoyed the outdoors and especially fishing in Minong, Wisconsin, where her parents owned cabins on Pokegama Lake many years ago.

She had a unique sense of humor which she frequently displayed. Arlene was a resident of the Symphony in Chesterton where she enjoyed the wonderful and caring staff.

A memorial visitation is planned for Tuesday, June 30, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with funeral service starting at 7:00 p.m., at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN 46304.
