Mary Elizabeth Ford, 78, of Valparaiso passed away peacefully in her home
the morning of Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020.
Mary was born on Jan. 20, 1942, to Harvey and Amanda Sweeney in
Elizabethtown, Ky. She attended school at Muhlenburg Central High School and
worked as a production line worker for Federal Mogul. On July 16, 1960, she
married Dempsey Ford. Mary and Dempsey lived in Valparaiso and raised their
three children together.
Mary is survived by her sister, Joyce Irene (Bill) Madden; brothers, Donald
Ray Sweeney, Kenneth Wayne Sweeney, and Tony Lynn Sweeney; and sister;
Belinda Kaye (Stony) Hildabrand; daughter; Gloria Ann (David) Bateham; sons,
Jason Lynn (Bella Alba) Ford and Shawn Cristopher (Melissa) Ford;
granddaughters, Amy Rechelle (Pete) Fournier and Alaysha Nichole (Steven)
Middagh; grandsons; Gabriel David Bateham and Jason Eric Taylor;
granddaughters, Sophia Isabel Ford and Salina Abigail Ford; and youngest
grandson, Jude Christopher Ford.
Mary was a member of Living Word Sanctuary and loved her church. Mary
enjoyed shopping, her flowers, and her 2003 Ford Thunderbird.
Visitation will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 7, at Edmonds &
Evans Funeral Homes, 6941 Central Ave., Portage. Funeral services will be at
11 a.m. Saturday, March 7, immediately following visitation.
Burial will take place in the Heritage Cemetery.
