Services Monday for James William Warne

James William "Jim" Warne, age 83 of Chesterton, IN, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 4, 2020, with his family by his side.

He was born on August 31, 1936, in Gary, IN, to Leroy and Mabel (White) Warne.

James is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Cathy (Hunt) Warne of Chesterton; sons, Robert (Christy) Warne of Springlake, MI, and Timothy (Tammy) Warne of Holland, MI; grandchildren, Tanya, Tiffany, Matthew, Jeremy, T.J.; great-grandchildren, Lucas, and twins Savannah and Cole; and many extended family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Russell Warne; sister, Lynn Raymond; and grandson, Devon Warne.

James was a United States Army veteran and a Member of American Legion Post 260 of Portage, as well as a member of the D.A.V. He was lifelong area resident and retired from US Steel following 38 years of service. Jim was a former EMT and Volunteer for Liberty Township Volunteer Fire Department. Jim was a Boy Scout leader and co-ed advisor for the Explorer Post #430 in Portage. He was an avid fisherman and loved camping.

Funeral Ceremony will be held on Monday, March 9, 2020, at 10:00 a.m., at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN 46304. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park in Hobart, IN.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 8, 2020, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home with American Legion service to be held at 5:00 p.m.
