Juliet Morgan Ratchford dies at 80 in Texas

Former Chesterton resident Juliet Morgan Ratchford, 80, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 22, 2020, at Christus St. Joseph Village community in Coppell, Texas.

Julie was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 3, 1939, the daughter of Milan Morgan and Camille Morgan.

She was raised in Chesterton, graduated from Chesterton High School in 1957, and attended The College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia. She lived in the Atlanta, Georgia area from 1967 - 2017. When her husband, Roy V. Ratchford died in 2017, she moved to the Dallas, Texas area to be closer to her eldest daughter.

Julie will be greatly missed and remembered by her friends and family for her love, bright smile, and sweet and congenial manner. After moving to Texas she became a beloved resident of St. Joseph Village, where she was actively involved with the community’s social and spiritual life.

She is survived by two daughters, Lucinda Bordonaro (husband Frank Bordonaro) of Coppell, Texas, and Camilla Fortune (husband Jack Fortune) of Eugene, Oregon, and two grandchildren, Julia Bordonaro and Julian Fortune. One sister, Pamela Morgan Welker and niece Milah Welker Sutton survive, along with numerous cousins, step-children, and step-grandchildren.

A memorial service is tentatively planned to take place in Chesterton in August.
