Dolores M. Spargur,
age 68 of Valparaiso, IN, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2020.
She was born on
December 12, 1951, in Chicago, IL, to Lawrence Stadter and Antonette “Jo”
Stadter (Tortorello), both of whom preceded her in death.
On July 27, 1975,
at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Chicago, IL, she married the love of her
life, Robert Spargur, who preceded her in death.
She is survived by
her loving son, Jeremy (Melissa) Spargur of Valparaiso, IN; her late
husband’s children: Michael Spargur of Las Vegas, NV, and Michell (John)
Berg of Hammond, IN; her late husband’s treasured granddaughter, Salina
(Chris) Biancotti; her sister, Eileen (Steve) Eagar; and by her many beloved
nieces and nephews.
She was also
preceded in death by her sisters, Maureen Diericks and Sharon Brockway and
by her late husband’s son, Robert (Charlene) Spargur, Jr. of Grayson, KY.
Dee was very active
in the Wizard of Oz Festival in Chesterton and Valparaiso for several years.
She enjoyed working with the “Munchkins” and all the festival entailed. She
was a member of the Chesterton Chamber of Commerce and served on the Board.
Dee was a crafter through and through and was known in the area as a craft
shop owner for several years. She spent countless hours crafting and
scrapbooking with friends and preparing for craft shows but more
importantly, building relationships. Dee never met a stranger and was loved
by many. There wasn’t anything she couldn’t do -- she had an inquisitive
mind and could fix just about anything.
After the passing
of her husband, Dee took the reins and kept their trucking business running
successfully with the help of Salina Biancotti (Spargur) and Lisa Engelhardt.
Due to the COVID-19
pandemic, no services will be held at this time; however, donations to Toys
for Tots may be made in Dee’s memory at the Porter Fire Department, 550 W
Beam Street, Porter, IN 46304, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on her birthday, December
12.
Professional
arrangements are entrusted to the White-Love Funeral Home, Chesterton, IN.
