Daniel L. Jenkins, III passes away in Arizona

On April 30, 2020 Daniel L. Jenkins, III, passed away peacefully at his home in Peoria, AZ.

He is preceded in death by wife Marie, mother Sarah Hatz, father Daniel Jenkins, step-father James Hatz, and sister Janice Simon.

Dan grew up in Gary, Ind., where he attended Lew Wallace High School. He went on to attend Indiana University where he earned an accounting degree and was an active ROTC member. Drafted into WWII as an officer, he spent time in China and then Burma, alongside Merrel’s Marauders. After returning home he married and eventually moved to Dune Acres. There he served on the Board of Zoning Appeals and The Town Council for eight years. He was also a member of the University Club. He remained in the Army Reserves for 30 years, retiring as a Major.

After retiring from Sears Roebuck he and Marie traveled extensively. They then built the house in Peoria, AZ, where he has lived now for 30 years.

Dan loved life and had many good friends along the way. He always said that he had truly been blessed!

He is survived by son Daniel L. Jenkins lll, wife Arlene; daughter Debra Wampler, husband Michael; stepson William Metz, wife Florence, and step-daughter Janet Miehle. Also seven grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

His ashes will be placed alongside Marie at “A Place Apart” located at the Ogden Dunes church. Services are yet to be determined.
