Charles E. Johnson passes away at age 80

Charles E. Johnson, age 80 of Chesterton, IN, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2020.

He was born in February of 1940 to Robert and Anna Johnson, both of whom preceded him in death.

In May of 1963, he married the love of his life, Karen Johnson, who survives in Chesterton, IN.

He is also survived by his loving children: Diana (Kevin) Burgess of Chesterton, IN, Michael (Sheila) Johnson of Goshen, IN, and Paul Johnson of South Carolina; his adoring grandchildren: Jacob (Cassie) Johnson of South Carolina, Joel (Keilee) Johnson of South Carolina, and Lindsey Burgess; his adoring great-grandchildren, Tyce and Logan; and by his sister, Suzanne (Don) Turner of Kentucky.

He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Barry and Allen, and his sister, Patricia.

Chuck proudly served his country in the United States Navy and was employed as an electrical engineer at the steel mill for many years. He was a member of Real Life Community Church of the Nazarene in Portage for several years. He was also a member of the Calumet Lodge No. 379 in Chesterton, where he was the past Grand Prelett Mardis for the Grand Commandery. He was also a proud Knight Templar and was the past Deputy Governor of York Rite Sovereign College.

Due to unforeseen circumstances regarding the Coronavirus disease and for the protection of the family and the community at large, a private family service will be held.

Memorial donations may be given to Calumet Lodge No. 379, 902 W Lincoln Ave., Chesterton, IN, 46304.
