Bruce Bartholomew passes away at age 77

Bruce Bartholomew, age 77 of Chesterton, passed away on April 4, 2020.

He was born on December 10, 1942 to William Bartholomew and Eileen Parker in Valparaiso, IN.

On January 20, 1968 he married Cheryl Dille. Bruce and Cheryl lived in Chesterton, IN and raised their two children.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Cheryl Bartholomew; son Thad Bartholomew, and daughter Karen (Corey) Riesterer; grandchildren Iris, Calvin, Harper and Piper; nieces and nephews, Tim, Carrie, Kim, Kathy, and many great-nieces and great-nephews. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Wayne Sovich.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents.

Bruce was a graduate from Chesterton High School, Class of 1960. He worked as an Operating Engineer. Bruce is a veteran of the Vietnam War. He served proudly and loved his country. He was a member of Local 150 Operating Engineers. Bruce enjoyed spending time with his fishing buddies. He was active in Liberty Rec while his son and daughter were growing up. He was a friendly fellow who had many friends. He was the type of man that could make friends anywhere. Bruce was an avid Bears fan. He enjoyed watching his team on TV and even made it to a few games. He enjoyed family get-togethers and spending time with everyone. Those were times that Bruce cherished.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Homes, Chesterton, IN, at a later date.

Memorials may be made to Dunes Hospice. They took exceptional care of Bruce during this time.
