Services Saturday for Edna Winquist, age 100

Edna Winquist, age 100 of Chesterton, IN, passed away on August 14, 2019.

She was born on April 16, 1919, in Chicago, IN, to John and Katherine (Guna) Norkiewicz.

Edna is survived by her son, Robert (Shirly) Winquist; daughter, Dianne (William) Wirth; grandchildren, Patti, Terri, Christopher, Jennifer, Amy, Lori, Katherine and Pamela; 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene R. Winquist Sr.; son, Eugene Winquist Jr.; brothers, Walter, Joseph and Edward Norkiewicz; sisters, Angeline Plebanski, Stella Grevan, Alfreda Gutjar, Stephanie Norkiewicz, Lottie Osinski and Eleanor Rosiak.

Edna enjoyed cooking and taking care of her yard but most of all she loved her grandchildren. She worked at the Koke & Koffee Shop in the Ben Franklin. Edna was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed.

The family would like to thank the staff of Avalon Springs and Heart to Heart hospice.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, August 17, 2019, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet Ave., Chesterton, IN 46304, with Father Nate Edquist officiating. Burial to take place at Chesterton Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 16, 2019, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN 46304.
