Memorial Service April 27 for Frank Sherman Maple

Frank Sherman Maple, age 90 of Brooksville, Florida formerly of Chesterton, Indiana, passed away comfortably at home on April 5, 2019.

He was born and raised on a farm in Kokomo, Indiana, to Dorey and Martha (Smith) Maple, both of whom preceded him in death.

On October 19, 1947, he married his high school sweetheart, Norma Jean LeMaster. Frank and Jeannie began their life together farming. Early In their marriage, he left farming and began his career in all things trucking, from driving to management and then sales. Frank and Jeannie enjoyed 70 years of marriage and he was her devoted caregiver after she became ill until her death on April 11, 2018.

He is survived by their six children: Janice (late P. David) Pardue of Brooksville, FL, Rea (Bill) Taubert of Porter, IN, Beth (Jeff) Crothers of Chesterton, IN, Terry (Kim) Maple of Chesterton, IN, Maria (Bob) Poparad of Burns Harbor, IN and Mary (Reg) Bramlett of San Diego, CA.

Also surviving are his twenty-five grandchildren: Michelle (Morry) Osborn, Kari (Joel) Wharton, Chad (Lisa) Pardue, Abigail (Elliott) Blount, Cortney Reid, Lauren (Raimond) Moran, Seth (Megan) Pardue, Lisa (Brad) Gaff, Jaime (Matthew) Smith, Bill (Shelby) Taubert, Kati (Drew) Smith, Lora (Ben) Watkins, Joe (Ashley) Crothers, Erin (Shay) Bozetarnik, Lindsay (Craig) Beatty, Matt (Megan) Maple, Kathleen (Josh) Gerber, Kelley (Mike) Killebrew, Bob (fiancˇ, Amber Edwards) Poparad, Christina (Ken) Albright, Melanie (Jeremy) Kelly, Jessica (Josh) Foote, Janel Bramlett, Julie (Ian) Ravn and Jasmin (Jason) Hartnell, as well as his 63 great-grandchildren and two little ones on the way this spring and summer.

Frank is, also, survived by his sister, Mildred “Susie” Middlesworth and his sister-in-law, Betty Lou Maple, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to his beloved wife, Jeannie, his parents and his son-in-law, Dave Pardue, he is preceded in death by his brother, Richard Maple and his brother-in-law, Bill Middlesworth.

Frank is remembered for his love of the Lord and His Word. He served as an Elder in each of the Christian Churches where they worshipped, in Chesterton, IN, Worthington, OH, and Dade City, FL. In the later years, they were members of CrossPointe Christian Church in Valparaiso, IN and Christian Church in the Wildwood in Weeki Wachee, FL.

His children remember what a fun dad he was and the many trips to the State Fair. In recent years, he always had a pocketful of tootsie rolls for the great-grandchildren and some of them called him Grandpa Tootsie, but most called him Grandpa Great. He had a sharp sense of humor and always enjoyed a good laugh. Frank played basketball and baseball in his youth and enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing euchre, gardening, woodworking and was a beekeeper in his later years. He was active in the Little League. He always enjoyed keeping up with farming news. He never knew a stranger and enjoyed hearing other people’s stories. He was rarely seen without a toothpick in his mouth.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at 3:00 p.m., at CrossPointe Christian Church in Valparaiso, IN. Officiating the service will be longtime friend and minister, Marshall Hayden.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until time of service.

Memorials may be given to CrossPointe Christian, Valparaiso, IN, or Christian Church in the Wildwood, Weeki Wachee, FL, or HPH Hospice, Brooksville, FL.
