Celebration of Life Monday for Gary Ward Beavers

Back To Front Page

Gary Ward Beavers, age 73, of Chesterton, Indiana, went to be with the Lord at the VNA Hospice Center in Valparaiso on April 9, 2019.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, September 29, 1945, to James and Audrey Beavers.

Gary married Nancy Lee Beavers (nee Mills) on January 13, 1968. They made a wonderful life together with Jesus Christ as their Cornerstone.

Gary was an Electrician for over 40 years, out of IBEW Local 531, LaPorte. He loved to work with his hands, computers, games and phones. He was a real “techie”. But, most of all, a man of God, and a Rock to his family.

Gary was a member of Liberty Bible Church of Chesterton, and a former member of Westchester Baptist Church of Chesterton. He was an Usher, Youth Leader, Counselor for New Hope Counseling Ministry. A great role model to many youth through the years. He coached baseball for Liberty Rec.

Gary and Nancy’s favorite times together were in their boat, on the water, fishing, and spending time with their family.

Gary leaves behind his wife, Nancy Lee Beavers (nee Mills), whom he was married to for fifty-one years. He is also survived by son, Darren Ward Beavers; daughter, Dawn Lee Vaca (Santiago, “Chago”); adopted Polish daughter, Kasia Wasilewska; grandson, Payton; granddaughters, Erailia, Rachel, Samantha (Andrew Thomas), Karissa and Jaida; great-grandchildren, Kyler, Kaydence, Darien, Raelynn and Kensley; brother, Dennis Beavers (Karen); many nieces and nephews and their children; and his “furry” companion, Koda Sioux.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and youngest brother Craig and wife, Leisa.

His many friends meant so much to him. All of Gary’s family and friends loved him for his integrity, his commitment to Jesus Christ, his example as a father, his work ethic and generous spirit. He will be sorely missed until such time as we are reunited with him in heaven.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, April 22, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., at the Liberty Bible Church, 824 N. Calumet Avenue, Chesterton, Indiana. A luncheon will follow.

Memorial donations may be made to VNA Hospice, 501 Marquette Street, Valparaiso, IN 46383.

Arrangements were handled by Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN 46304.
