Services Tuesday for Karin 'Linnea' Hokanson

Karin “Linnea” Hokanson, age 80 of Porter, IN, passed away on Wednesday, November 7, 2018, in Porter.

She was born on September 22, 1938 in Porter, IN, to Henning and Violet (Carlson) Hokanson.

Linnea is survived by her brother, David (JoAnn) Hokanson; nieces and nephews, Debbie (Ron) Kerwin, Guy (Jennifer) Hokanson, Becky Muraro and Lisa Hokanson, and many great-nieces and nephews and special friends.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Edwin Hokanson; sister, Barbara Humbert; brother-in-law, Ken Humbert; sister-in-law, Lila Hokanson, and nieces Jodie Hokanson and Trudy Scott.

Linnea was a lifelong resident of Porter and a Chesterton High School graduate and graduated Cum Laude at St. Joseph’s College. She was a member of Porter Methodist Church and Sigma Alpha Sorority, having served as past national president. Linnea was very proud that she was the first female supervisor at U.S. Steel. Linnea was also a member of several bridge clubs. She enjoyed oil painting and knitting, crocheting, reading, movies, playing bunco and golf, and attending national sorority conventions. She enjoyed spending time with her family and hosting the annual Swedish Christmas Eve dinner. She loved her cats and tending to her flower garden.

There will be a funeral service on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home with Pastor Dee Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery.

There will be a visitation held on Monday, November 12, 2018, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN 46304.

Donations can be made to Porter Methodist Church, 100 E. Beam St., Porter, IN 46304.
