Gary Alan Behrens, 63 of Porter, IN, passed away suddenly on May 17, 2018.

Gary will be lovingly remembered by Lene (nee Popp) his wife of 29 years, brother David Behrens (Jan), sister Gail Mathews, brother-in-law Louis Popp Jr. (Fay), sister-in-law Lori O’Malley (William), sister-in-law Helen Blane (Monte), sister-in-law Laine Kasarda, brother-in-law Lance Popp (April), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and dear friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents Margaret and Alan Behrens, brother-in-law Karl Mathews, in-laws Louis and Shirley Popp, and sister-in-law Patricia Zieseniss.

Gary was retired from Rexnord Industries, and often joked that he was so busy, he does not know how he ever had time to work. He loved spending his time with family, especially his nieces, nephews, and the great nieces and nephews he was the “Uncle-est uncle ever”. He was a fully involved member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Valparaiso, and will be dearly missed by his friends on the Property committee, as well as many dear friends in the congregation. Gary also volunteered for the men’s shelter at Valparaiso Presbyterian Church and Trinity Church. Gary will be remembered for his huge faith in the Resurrection, love for the work of Jesus Christ, his generosity, unusual sense of humor, and gentleness and love to his family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 22, 2108, at 10:00 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, 201 N. Washington St., Valparaiso, with visitation from 9 -- 10 a.m.

Friends may meet with the family on Monday, May 21, from 4-8 p.m., at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Road, Valparaiso. The burial will be at Angelcrest Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church or the Christian Food Pantry of Valparaiso.
