Wheeler Stanley, age 76 of Chesterton, IN, passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2018, peacefully at home.

He was born on January 21, 1942, in Jenkins, KY, to Wheeler and Pauline Stanley.

He is survived by his wife of almost 55 years, Pat Stanley; son, Wheeler (Tonya) Stanley, Jr.; daughter, Melanie Tall; grandchildren, Austin, Garrett and Jacob Stanley and Matthew and Jordan Tall; sister, Betty Flisiak; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Paula Hojnacki and Rose Marie Gusich.

Wheeler was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. He worked as a plant manager at Ford Motor Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran, 101st Airborne Division 1959-1961. He was a fourth degree member of Knights of Columbus and a life member of the 101st Airborne Division Association Maxwell D. Taylor Chapter, and a life member of the NRA. He loved to hunt, fish and play golf. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and was a role model to many.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, October 11, 2018, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 638 N. Calumet Avenue, Chesterton, IN 46304, with Father George Schoop officiating.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN 46304.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
