Dorothea “Dolly”
Waldman passed away on February 3, 2018.
She was born to and
raised in New York by Ella Dorothea Schultz-Burger and Adolph Paul Burger.
She was born June 22, 1936.
She graduated high
school in three years, and worked as a bookkeeper. She met her husband,
William H. Waldman “Bill”, at a cocktail party in Chicago. While he lived in
CA and she in NY, they wrote letters, fell in love, and eloped in Tijuana on
Sept. 6, 1961. They raised their three children at 814 N 625 E, Westville.
Dolly loved music and was a piano teacher from 1972 to 2011. She also loved
playing bridge. She was dedicated to family and friends, and passionate
about music and laughter.
Dolly was preceded
in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived her three children
William H. Waldman, Jr., “Willie” (Renee) of LaPorte; Lizabeth P. Hancock
(Albert) of Chicago/Valparaiso; and Frederick A. Waldman (Erin) of Valencia,
CA, and grandchildren Liam A. Waldman and Declan H. Waldman; and her
brother, William C. Burger of Chicago.
Visitation will be
on Wednesday, February 7, 2018, from 5-7 p.m., at White-Love Funeral Home,
525 S. 2nd Street, Chesterton, IN 46304.
The Funeral Mass
will be on Thursday, February 8, 2018, at 10 a.m., at St. Paul’s Episcopal
Church, 1000 Michigan Ave., LaPorte, IN 46350. Burial will follow at
Chesterton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers,
donations can be sent to St. Paul’s.
