Services Monday for Alexandra (Sandra) Glatthorn

Alexandra (Sandra) Theresa Glatthorn, age 73 of Valparaiso, IN, passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2018, at her home where she had lived for the past 39 years.

She was born on October 2, 1944, in Chester, PA, to the late Edmund and Wanda (nee Maksimowicz) Siekierski.

Sandra was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and served as a volunteer for St. Agnes Adult Daycare for 18 years. She was active in the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and was a regular at water aerobics at the Franciscan Health Center. Sandra graduated from Penn State University in 1966 with a degree in education and went on to complete a Masters of Education at Purdue. She taught elementary school in Hammond until retiring in 1978 to be a stay at home mother and take an active role in her childrenís school-life, serving on the PTA as well as volunteering as a teacherís aide and leading Brush with the Masters. Recently, Sandra was loving life as a grandmother and shared photos of her grandbabies to anyone she met.

Sandra is survived by her children: Matthew (Amy) Glatthorn of Valparaiso, IN, Daniel (Carlene) Glatthorn of Hoboken, NJ, and Lauren (Erik) Babcock of Aberdeen, Scotland; grandchildren: Raymond Maxwell, Alexandra Grace, and John Raymond; and brother, Todd Siekierski.

Sandra was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, parents, and brother, Alan Siekierski.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 23, 2018, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1855 W. Harrison Blvd., Valparaiso, IN, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. with a Funeral Mass immediately to follow at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Jeffrey Burton and Rev. Joseph Pawlowski con-celebrating. Cremation. Memorials to St. Agnes Adult Care Center.
