Service of Life Celebration Saturday for David Earl Huelsman

David Earl Huelsman was born March 12, 1945, in Cleveland, OH. He attended Lutheran High School West, Rocky River, OH and Concordia College, Ann Arbor before he entered the U.S. Army in 1964. He served two tours in Germany. After discharge in 1974 he began his 29-year career with the Associated Press in communications, residing in Chicago.

David married his love, Susan (Gutekunst) Huelsman and has been blessed with 49 1/2 years of marriage. They have also been blessed with three wonderful children: David, Stephanie (Shannon) Blackfeather, and Matthew (Stephanie). God has also given them the gift of five grandchildren who were the joy of his life: Joshua and Maya Huelsman, Christian Blackfeather, and Aida and Samantha Huelsman. He also leaves behind one sister, Linda Koranda; nieces and nephews and great-grandnephew.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Johanna King and his parents, Gilbert and Ardelle (Braun) Huelsman.

David was called Home peacefully, surrounded by his family at his Chesterton, IN, home on December 31, 2018.

Service of Life Celebration will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1237 E. Coolspring Ave., Michigan City, IN, at 11:00 a.m., with Pastor David Solum officiating. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church Endowment Fund, Lutheran World Relief or Wounded Warriors.
