Timothy C. Dietz ,
age 66, passed away Saturday, April 28, 2018, at his home in Trail Creek,
Tim was born
December 25, 1951, in Valparaiso, Indiana, to Wayne and Elaine Dietz.
Tim is survived by
his children: Amy (Mike) Focosi of Lafayette, Indiana; Sean (Amy) Dietz of
LaPorte, and their mother, Lora Gohn. Also surviving are his sister Kerry
Smiertelny, of Chesterton, and two nieces. He had five grandchildren: Alex
and Paige Focosi; Ryan, Keegan and Alivia Dietz.
Tim was preceded in
death by his parents, his brother Terry Dietz, and granddaughter Lydia Grace
Chesterton High School and later completed his GED in Michigan City. His
parents started Able Disposal Company in Chesterton in 1958, which was Timís
first job. He also worked for Brown/Bulk Transport and Waste Management
Corporation. He retired in 2014 from the Michigan City Sanitary District
after 22 years of employment, working in all three divisions at various
times. Tim was a proud member of Local 142 Teamsters Union.
Tim loved all
animals, but especially his cat Sami. He also loved the outdoors, nature,
flowers, and gardening. He enjoyed ballroom dancing, taking lessons in
recent years. Tim valued connecting with people, and especially spending
time with his children and grandchildren.
Those wishing to
pay their respects are invited to a Memorial Service in the Fellowship Hall,
at St. Johnís UCC, 101 St. John Road, Michigan City, on Saturday, May 12,
2018. Friends can visit the family at 9 a.m. C.S.T., with the service
starting at 10 a.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Geisen-Carlisle
contributions may be given online to the ASPCA (American Society for the
Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) or St. Judeís Childrenís Hospital.
