Christina Jean Hager, 64, passed away in the presence of family on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Her memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Road in Valparaiso, Indiana, with memorial visitation from 1:00-4:00 p.m.

Chris was born on June 15, 1953, in Saginaw, Michigan, to Jean and John Arch. On March 30, 1974, she married Daniel Hager of Chesterton. They were happily married 44 years raising two boys, Timothy Alan residing in Munster, Indiana and Scott Lawrence in Johns Creek, Georgia.

Chris spent years managing a professional cake making business, helping others celebrate weddings and special events around Northwest Indiana with deliciously beautiful cakes. This venture quickly gained her the reputation as Chesterton’s very own “cake lady”. Her many hobbies included gardening, scrapbooking, RV travel, family gatherings, and cookouts. She was a passionate animal rights supporter and was an active member of the ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). She also worked for several years at the YMCA’s after school programs helping kids achieve a better start in life.

Her family paid this tribute to her, “Chris was one of the kindest people you could ever meet, she always opened her home and her heart to family and friends. She was a devoted Mother and Grandmother who would go to great lengths to ensure her loved ones were happy and well cared for. All who knew her were blessed to have met an angel in their lifetime. She will be dearly missed.”

She is survived by her Husband and two Sons, her Grandchildren Victoria and Logan, her Mother and Sister, Linda Walker, Daughter-in-law’s Lauren Devine-Hager and Chris Stoettner-Hager, and her beloved Basset Hound, Gracie.

She is preceded in death by her Father and Brother, Jack Arch.

Donations can be made in Chris’s name to the ASPCA via www.aspca.org in lieu of flowers.
