Memorial service May 13 for Nancy Kester

Nancy Kester, age 78 of Porter, IN, passed peacefully on Wednesday, April 18, surrounded by her family.

She was born at home on September 13, 1939, in Sutersville PA.

On October 1, 1989, at the First United Methodist Church of Chesterton, she married the love of her life, George Kester who preceded her in death.

Surviving are her children Sharon Gillespie Wozniak (Michael) and Theresa Hegburg Gillespie of Chesterton, Kristin Gillespie Cady (David) of Michigan City, Annette Gillespie Steiger (Shad) of Connecticut, Dwain Kester (Michele) of Texas, Lannette Kester Connor (Ted), and Lisa Kester DeVault (Rick) of South Carolina; 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, sister Daryl (Gilbert) McDonald of Pennsylvania, brother Jack Malloy (Judy) of Florida; sisters-in-law Julia Gillespie of Chesterton, Barbara Sebben Franz of Michigan, Judy Elliott and Patricia Delbert Lopez of Kansas, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Nancy was preceded in death by her loving son J. Kenneth Gillespie, grandson Dakota Gay, granddaughter Crystal Moore, niece Debra Bramhall, nephew Richard Gillespie, brother-in-law William Gillespie, sister-in-law Anita Merrell, brother-in-law Henry Sebben, and son-in-law Michael Gay.

Nancy had an 18 year career at the Porter County Clerks Office, retiring as Deputy Clerk. She enjoyed spending time with her family, walking along the beach, fishing, camping and traveling. She will always hold a special place in all of our hearts.

A memorial service will be held at her residence on May 13, beginning at 3 p.m., and concluding with sunset at Porter Beach.

Arrangements are under the care of White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South 2nd St., Chesterton. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution in honor of Nancy may be made to Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) Hospice at
