Marcia Lee Navarro, 77, of Porter, passed away Sunday, July 22, 2018.

She was born June 22, 1941, in South Bend, Indiana, to the late Clyde Stephensen and Mayme Stephensen.

For years, Marcia worked as a police dispatcher and bus driver. She loved green olives, Lay's Potato Chips, hot tea, and mystery novels, especially Mrs. Jefferies and Hercule Poirot. She was a loving wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cared deeply about her family. As a mother of five and grandmother of 15, Marcia was a caring woman who was always there for her loved ones. Whether it was orchestrating barbeques, cooking for family reunions, shipping far too many Christmas presents, or answering late night phone calls, Marcia loved to give, listen, and bring people together. Even as her health declined, Marcia had an uncanny ability to read the emotions of others, and she inspired those around her to be better than they thought they could be. Marcia will be remembered by everyone who had the honor of meeting her, and her legacy will be carried on by her husband, her children, and her many grandchildren. Marcia, we “love you more,” and we will miss you dearly.

On December 5, 1961, Marcia married Santiago (James “Chico”) Jose Navarro, who survives, along with their children Marcia Ritchea-Navarro, Martin (Rachel) Navarro, and Poppy-Ann (Brian) Carden; grandchildren: Dustin Ritchea, Maxwell Navarro, Lucy Navarro, Jami Ritchea, Heidi Navarro, Calvin Carden, James Navarro, Carmen Navarro, Heather Navarro, Eli Carden, Elizabeth Navarro, Morgan Navarro, and Lucan Navarro; and great-grandchildren Ella and Ivan.

Marcia was preceded in death by her parents and two sons James “Jimmer” Navarro Jr. and Jeffrey Navarro.

A small, private family memorial will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2018, in celebration of Marcia. You may email Marcia Ritchea-Navarro at for further details. Flowers may be sent to 1141 N. Mineral Springs Rd., Porter, IN 46034.

Cremation services entrusted to Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home. Online condolences to the family may be made at
