M. Lee Garrity, 78,
of Valparaiso, Indiana, died in her home on April 8, 2018.
She was born
September 2, 1939, in Evansville, Indiana, to Aaron Davenport and Ada Mae
Lee was preceded in
death by her husband, George M. Garrity, in 2009.
She is survived by
her daughter, Michelle R. Donegan (Petty), and son, Keith A. Petty. Lee had
five grandchildren: Brendan Donegan, Ryan Donegan, Cadence Petty, Cason
Petty, and Campbell Petty.
Lee was a nun with
the order of the Sisters of Saint Benedict in Ferdinand, Indiana until 1969.
She began teaching English at Marian Heights Academy, Indiana, that year.
From 1971-2000, she taught at Washington Township High School, Valparaiso,
where she also coached Speech and Debate teams for 15 years.
In retirement, Lee
was a member/artist at the Chesterton Art Gallery, and a volunteer at the
Visiting Nurses Association (VNA) Hospice Center in Valparaiso.
