Services Thursday for Wendell J. Carlson, 77

Wendell J. Carlson, 77, of Chesterton, IN, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 19, 2017, at his residence.

Wendell was born in Michigan City, IN, on August 18, 1939, to the late David and Mabel (Lillywhite) Carlson.

Wendell graduated from Wheaton College and worked 35 years at USS Gary Works before retiring in 1999 from Accounting Management. Wendell grew up on Ledgemere Farm and farmed as a hobby as an adult. He was a committed member of Liberty Bible Church all his life where he served in many capacities including Christian education, deacon and church treasurer. He especially loved singing in the choir and serving the music ministry of the church. Wendell was devoted to God. He loved his wife, and was deeply involved in the lives of his children and grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by sister, Marjorie Swisher, and parents David and Mabel Carlson.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Carlson; daughter, Brenda Kerr (Colin), of Evansville, IN, and son Brian Carlson (Diane), of New Haven, IN; grandchildren, Caleb Kerr (Katie), Jacob Kerr, Joel Kerr, Ashley Carlson, and Joshua Carlson.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, February 23, at 11:00 a.m., at Liberty Bible Church, 824 N. Calumet Ave., Chesterton, IN. Burial at Chesterton Cemetery following the service.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, February 22, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South 2nd St., Chesterton, IN and Thursday at Liberty Bible Church, from 10:00-11:00 a.m.
