Services Saturday for Robert 'Butch' Chaplin

Robert “Butch” Chaplin, age 77, of Westville, IN passed away on Monday, July 17, 2017, at home with his loving family.

He was born in Chesterton, IN, on December 4, 1939, to Henry and Dorothy (nee Bishop) Chaplin.

Butch is survived by his wife of 46 years, Kathleen (nee Jones) Chaplin of Westville, IN; daughters, Shelly (Vance) Brower of California, Tammy (Clint) Chaplin-Slatcoff of Valparaiso, Jennifer Chaplin of Westville, and Judith (John) Lowery of Indianapolis; brother, Jim Chaplin; sister-in-law, Winnie Chaplin; grandchildren, Jessica, Jeanne, Johnathon, Thomas, Ian, and Cade, and great-grandchildren, Miko, Sonny, and Charlie. He is also survived by his best friend and faithful companion, Dixie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Donald Chaplin and sister-in-law, Judy Chaplin.

Butch was born and raised in Chesterton. He retired from ArcelorMittal. He enjoyed volunteering for many years in Porter County 4-H. Butch was a lifelong outdoorsman and devout animal lover.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2017, at 12:00 p.m., at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN, with Father Ian Williams officiating.

Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday following the service until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
