Local real estate
agent Evelyn Solley Ekstrom, age 70, passed away peacefully in her Liberty
Twp. home early Wednesday morning, Feb. 15, 2017.
Evelyn was born at
home in Clay County, Alabama, on January 10, 1947, the second of ten
children born to V.T. Solley and Pauline Lamberth Solley, both of whom
preceded her in death.
Her husband of 39
years, Bernhard George Ekstrom, also preceded her in death.
She is survived by
her three daughters, Kim Ekstrom-Miller Singh, Beverly (Tom) Ekstrom
Mitchell, and Dr. Andrea “Jill” (Jim) Ekstrom Butler. She was blessed with
grandchildren James Miller III, Rachel Miller, Joseph (Rachel Guy) Miller,
Lyndsay Crouse, Sarah Mitchell, Audrey Butler and Mason Butler, and
great-granddaughters Mackenzye Kuhnle, Kelly Rivas, and Natalie Miller.
Also surviving are
her siblings Alma (Bob) Rabe, Sharon King, Becky Weiandt, Delinda Taylor,
John Solley, Cheryl Wilson, and many beloved nieces and newphews.
Other loved ones
preceding her in death include siblings Jane Solley, Laura Blackstead Solley,
and Daniel Solley; brother-in-law Tim Woynarowski, and cousin John “Jay”
After staying home
to raise her children, Evelyn became an award-winning real estate agent in
the Duneland area. From upholstry to oil painting to refinishing furniture
and cake decorating, there were few projects she didn’t master. She
especially enjoyed square dancing with the Bachelor and Bachelorettes
The family is
welcoming friends and collegues on Saturday, Februay 18, 2017, to First
Baptist Church of Chesterton, 1401 Porter Ave. Visitation will begin at 3
p.m., with the service at 5 p.m., and a meal to follow.
