Services Saturday for Chadwick Lee Brooks

Chadwick Lee Brooks, age 88 of Chesterton, passed away on May 8, 2017, at Franciscan Saint Anthony Health in Michigan City, IN.

He was born on July 30, 1928, in Chesterton, IN, to John and Flora Brooks, both of whom preceded him in death.

He is survived by his children: Christopher (Bonni) Brooks of Windsor, CO, Matthew Brooks of Boyne, Michigan, Jennifer (Art) Nash (Brooks) of Charlevoix, Michigan, and Melissa Johnson (Brooks) of Loveland, Ohio; his grandchildren: Hannah Kirk (Brooks), Paul (Amy) Brooks, Kirk Nash, Nichols Johnson, and Nathanial Johnson; his great-grandchildren, Amelia Kirk and Asa Kirk and his brother, James (Diana) Brooks of Arizona.

He is also preceded in death by his former wife, Judith Marie Brooks (Ciss).

Chad was the Founder and President of Instrument Systems, Inc., which employed a skilled group of engineers and technicians that would support many institutions and power plants throughout the Midwest for their mechanical system needs. The company was based in Chesterton, Indiana. He was a member of Instrument Society of America (ISA) and was a police commissioner for Porter Indiana in his later years. Throughout his life he enjoyed his family and close friends and in his spare time built and flew model RC airplanes and some helicopters, and was a member of the Midwest Sundowners RC flyers group. He helped many people and gave generously to them of his time and money. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at 10 a.m., at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 2050 W 1100 N, Chesterton, IN, with Pastor Erik Grayvold officiating.

The family will receive friends on Friday, May 12, 2017, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m., at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South Second Street, Chesterton, IN.
