Fishero, age 83, of Hebron, IN, passed away peacefully at home with family
members present on Thursday, November 16, 2017.
Max is survived by
his wife, Helen Fishero (nee DeKock) of 33 years; daughter, Lisa (Charles)
Allen; step-children: Alan (Sharon) McKay and Jean (Mark) Herrera;
grandchildren: Lindsey (Chris) Delgado, Justine and Marissa Herrera;
great-grandchildren: Sevetta and Julian Delgado; brother-in-law, Robert
Woods; many nieces and nephews.
Max was preceded in
death by his parents, Barton and Hallie Fishero; son, Stephen Fishero;
sister, Margi Woods.
Max was a member of
Hebron United Methodist Church and the Chesterton Moose Lodge. He was a
graduate of Crawfordsville High School, Class of 1952 and attended
Springfield College in Massachusetts and Indiana University, receiving both
a bachelors and masters degree respectively. Max taught at Hebron, IN,
Seligman, AZ, Scottsdale, AZ, Jackson Twp., and Duneland School Corp before
retiring in 1991. He also coached basketball, baseball and track. Max was a
member of the “football chaingain” for 49 years with the Chesterton Trojans.
After retiring, he worked at the Hoosier Bat Company and Capital Interior;
and volunteered with Meals on Wheels and Call-A-Ride.
Max proudly served
his country for two years in the US Army. He was an avid golfer who played
at 297 different golf courses; and a dedicated Indy 500 fan, attending the
races for 50 consecutive years. Max was an Eagle Scout, enjoyed dancing,
woodworking and held a pilot’s license. He was an adventurous traveler
having traveled to the Galapagos Islands to swim with the sea lions, hiked
down the Grand Canyon, climbed Mt. Katahdin in Maine, biked down Mt.
Haleakala, and went on a safari in Alaska.
Friends may visit
with the family on Sunday, November 19, 2017, at Geisen Funeral Home &
Cremation Services, 624 N. Main St., Hebron, IN, 46341, from 2:00 p.m. to
visitation will be held on Monday, November 20, 2017, directly at the Hebron
United Methodist Church, 202 W. Church St., Hebron, IN 46321 from 9:00 a.m.
until the time of the Funeral Services at 10:00 a.m., with Rev. Pete Ward
officiating. Burial will follow at Hebron Cemetery in Hebron, IN.
