Services Friday for Dolly J. Coppes

Dolly J. Coppes, age 80 of Chesterton, passed away on March 13, 2017, at the VNA Hospice Center in Valparaiso.

She was born on April 7, 1936 in Mishawaka, IN to Roscoe and Marie Clem, both of whom preceded her in death.

On June 4, 1955, she married Carroll Coppes, who survives in Chesterton.

Dolly is survived by her children: Jolynn (Michael) LeSuer of Springfield, MO, Jeffrey of Spartanburg, South Carolina, Karen (Glenn) Millan of Mooresville, North Carolina, Shelley (Bob) Smith of Wanatah, IN, and Marci Coppes of Plymouth; her grandchildren: Andy, Brandon, Nick, Chelsea, Kylynn, Grace, Aubrey, Cade, and Jack; one great-grandson, Chasin; her sister, Betty Schultz of Valparaiso; along with many nieces and nephews.

She is also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Pamela, her brothers, Durwood Clem and Delbert Clem, and by her sisters: Dorothy Wright, Marjorie Schilla, and Darlene Hart.

Dolly was a devout member of the Chesterton First United Methodist Church where she volunteered at Jacobís Table for many years and taught Sunday School for decades. Her kids in the Children's Ministry were very important to her. Dolly spent many hours preparing crafts and projects for the next Sunday's class. She was so proud of her kids at Christmas time when they presented the Christmas Pageant. Dolly was well known in Chesterton through the years. She never met a stranger.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 17, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Chesterton United Methodist Church, 424 South Second Street, Chesterton, IN, with a visitation at the church from 9 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South Second Street, Chesterton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Childrenís Ministry at the Chesterton United Methodist Church or to the VNA Hospice Center, 2404 Valparaiso Street, Valparaiso, IN, 46383.
