Betty Pisarski, age 89 of Valparaiso, passed away Monday, March 20, 2017.

She was born on January 9, 1928, in Gary, IN to Marcus and Winnie (Christmas) Sprague.

Betty graduated from Lew Wallace High School and worked in the catalogue department at Sears for many years. Betty’s passion was her family. She enjoyed her daily crossword puzzles, her fur babies, dancing, and traveling on gambling adventures with her husband, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law. Our lives have been truly blessed with the time that we had her, and she will be in our hearts until we are together again.

On November 18, 1950, in Gary, IN, Betty married the love of her life, Ray Pisarski, whom she shared 46 beloved years with until his passing in 1997.

She is survived by their children: Sheryl Barnard of Valparaiso, and Alan Pisarski of Chesterton; brother-in-law, Albert Pisarski; sisters-in-law Patricia Pisarski and Joan Pisarski; many loving nieces and nephews; and two special girls who she adopted as her own granddaughters: Allyson Harvey and Shannon Harvey. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 24, at 12:00 noon at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Road, Valparaiso, with a visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Betty’s name to the Independent Cat Society or Lakeshore Paws.
