Katheryn Politano, 84, of Valparaiso, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2017.

She was born May 20, 1933, in Butler County, KY, to Oakley and Ruby (Flener) Coots.

She graduated from Butler County High School where she became the most elegant homecoming queen to that date. Katheryn made her career as a floral designer with Fringe of the Dunes and then as a school bus aide with Duneland Schools. Katheryn was a very loving and gracious woman who saw the rewards of that love returned to her at the times in her life that she needed it most.

On December 7, 1966, she married Frank Politano, who preceded her in death in 1996. Survivors include their children, John Anthony “Tony” (Laurie) Politano, and Kathy “Lynn” (Phillip) Gralik all of Valparaiso, grandsons, Skylar (Felisia) Politano and Brandon Swann, great-grandsons, Drayden Nichols and Brantley Politano, and 11 siblings: Leon, Christine, Gwendolyn, Jean, Cammie, Kay, John, Jerry, Barbara, Victor, and Marsha.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings: Dorothy, William, and James.

A visitation will be held Thursday, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., at Calvary Church, 1325 E. Evans Ave., Valparaiso, with funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. and entombment to follow at Graceland Mausoleum.

Memorial donations may be made to Calvary Church. “Grieve not for me, for I am with the Lord.”
