Service Saturday for David Allen Yoder, 68

David Allen Yoder, age 68 of Chesterton, IN, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, October 18, 2017.

He was born on July 18, 1949, in Springfield, IL, to Reuben and Clara (Dietrich) Yoder.

David is survived by his wife, Eileen (McGinley) Yoder; son, Pete (Denise) Yoder; daughter, Nicole (Frank) Eckstrom; brother, Earl (Carolyn) Yoder; grandchild, Brooke Yoder; many nieces, nephews, friends, loved ones and longtime friend, Bill W.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Christian Yoder; brother, Melvin Yoder; and sister, Carolyn Moody.

David retired from U.S. Steel with almost 47 years of service. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors. David loved his Cubs, Railcats and the Chicago Bears. He enjoyed traveling with his family. David was a loving husband, father, and “Boo”. He had a way with people and always put a smile on their faces. He never met a stranger.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at 12:00 p.m., at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN 46304. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Great Lakes Division, Northwest Indiana Office, 130 Red Coach Dr., Mishawaka, IN, 46545.
