Memorial Services Monday for James 'Rowdy' Fornshell

James “Rowdy” Fornshell, age 82 of Porter, IN, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2017.

He was born on December 10, 1934, in Kouts, IN, to Lester and Florence (Coffman) Fornshell.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Verna “Midge” (Oke) Fornshell; daughter, Cara (Philip) Lau of Chesterton and their children, Tony, Nick and Ben Lau; daughter, Terry Fornshell of Michigan City, IN, and her children, Tonya Troy, Crissie Cobb and Michael and Mathew Brown; brothers, William Fornshell of Chesterton and Michael (AJ) Fornshell of FL; sisters, Patricia Walsh of Goshen, IN, and Emily Penn of Chesterton; former brother-in-law, Carl Charlson and numerous great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Cheryl “Cherry” Charlson.

Rowdy was a supervisor at US Steel for 32 years and retired in 1984. He was a member of the VFW Post 2511 in Porter and very proud of his service to the military. Rowdy and Midge owned the Village Tavern in Porter from 1979 to 2005 and made many friends along the way.

Memorial services will be held on Monday, February 27, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN 46304.

Memorial visitation will take place on Monday, February 27, 2017, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Cremation will be performed by Heritage Crematory, Portage, IN.
