Lucille (Lucy) Riebe Waters, 74, of The Villages in Florida, formerly of Griffith, passed away on January 19, 2017.

She was born July 15, 1942, in Racine, Wisconsin.

She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Richard Waters. Also surviving her are children, Jim (Leslee) Waters of Valparaiso, Dianna (Ray) Kubik of Phoenix, AZ, and Lisa (Frank) Kusbel of Valparaiso.

She is preceded in death by her daughter Deborah Waters. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren, Chris (Alyssa) Waters, Michelle Kubik, Rebecca Kubik, Brittany Kubik, Deborah Kubik, Kathleen Kubik, Matthew Kusbel, Lauren Kusbel, Jacob Kusbel and great-grandchild Blakely Waters.

Lucy was a 50-year resident of Griffith and was often seen driving the streets in her red Trans Am. When retiring to The Villages she would always enjoy a round of golf and often attended the entertainment of “The Square”. She often loved the challenge of playing the marble game with her beloved family. Lucille was such an animal lover that when posed with the challenge of adopting a duck she embraced it, so the story of “Quacker” will always be remembered. She also spent many family vacations enjoying having her family surround her. Lucy had a heart of gold and her kindness and love should be a lasting lesson for us all.

Friends may meet with the family on Friday, January 27, from 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at White Funeral Home, located at 921 W. 45th Avenue, Griffith, IN.
