Lillian J. Michaels passes away at age 98

Lillian J. Michaels, age 98 of Chesterton, passed away on December 7, 2017, at Chesterton Manor.

She was born on October 23, 1919, in Chesterton, IN, to Fred and Edith Michaels, both of whom preceded her in death.

Lillian is survived by her nephew, Gordon Michaels, of Chesterton, and her niece, Dolores "Dee" Hile, of Chesterton.

She is also preceded in death by her siblings: Irene Redner, Gus Michaels, and Dorothy Dillingham; and her nieces and nephews, Ron and Janice (Marrs) Dillingham, Pauly Redner, and Arlene Hudgins.

Lillian was a member of Saint Paul Lutheran Church. She received her nursing degree from St. Mary’s Nursing School, Gary, IN. She went to become an Anesthesiologist from Cleveland, Ohio. She worked at South Shore Hospital in Chicago until her retirement in 1971. Lillian was always ready to give advice and medical advice. She was very close to her mother and father and cared for them deeply. Lillian loved to travel and go fishing in Minnesota. She also loved to take photos of her family when they would travel.

There will be a private graveside service at Chesterton Cemetery with Reverend Mark Grobner officiating.

Memorial donations may be given to Dunes Hospice, 4711 Evans Ave., Valparaiso, IN, 46383.

Arrangements are under the care of White -- Love Funeral Home, Chesterton, Indiana.
