Janice Lee Vereb passes away at age 79

Janice Lee Vereb, 79 years old a longtime resident of Merrillville, Indiana, has reunited with her husband Vincent Vereb on Wednesday, August 30, 2017.

Born July 9, 1938 in Gary, Indiana, the daughter of the late John and Jennie Hamady.

Loving and supportive mother to Christopher (Vicki) Vereb, Jennifer (John) Clendenen. Beloved grandmother to Brittany Clendenen, Jack Clendenen, Ryan Clendenen, Benjamin Clendenen, Olivia Vereb, and Vincent Vereb. Also survived by sister Jerryl (Al) Wielogorski, and brother-in-law John Vereb.

Preceded in death by father-in-law Andrew and mother-in-law Priscilla Vereb, brother-in-laws, Andrew Jr. Vereb, Joseph Vereb, and sister-in-laws Anna Vereb, and Nancy Vereb.

Janice worked at Montgomery Wards from 1979-1993, the year of her retirement. She fought hard against diabetes for many years. In 2009, she was paralyzed from an infection to her spine and had to enter the nursing home. She lived at Waters of Duneland (now Chesterton Manor) for the duration of her life. She was very active with the Garden Club, playing Bingo, participating in Talk and Chew, Rosary on Tuesdays, and church on Fridays. Alongside her husband she was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears and the Chicago Cubs. Vince and Janice were always a part of their grandchildren’s lives and shared many memorable occasions.

Janice will be missed by many but most of all by her family.
