Edward Wineland passes away at age 80

Edward (Grumpy) Wineland, 80, of Star City, Indiana, passed away at St. Francis Hospital, Indianapolis, on October 27, 2017, surrounded by family.

Ed was born on March 5, 1937, to Albert and Florence Wineland.

On July 10, 2004, he married Julie (LaTour) Wineland, who survives.

He is also survived by his son, Eddie (Brenda) Wineland, daughter Beth (Dan) Drotar, sisters Betty Troup and Delores Erdei, and grandchildren Eddie (Amber) Wineland, Sarah (Ryan) Peterson, Cory Wineland, Devin and Niles Drotar, and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving in his step-family are Cathy (Tim) Loosemore, Laurie (Stan) Kidd, Dennis LaTour, eight grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Casey, and his brother, Robert Wineland.

Ed had a zest for life and had a large circle of family and friends who will miss the energy he brought to every gathering. He loved his winters in the Arizona desert where he made many lifetime friends.

There will be a celebration of life at a later date.
