Bettye J. Capp passes away at age 89

Bettye J. Capp, age 89 of Valparaiso, passed away on March 4, 2017, at Addison Pointe Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on January 14, 1928, in Baton Rouge, LA, to Ben and Lillian Cutrer, both of whom preceded her in death.

Bettye is survived by her children: David (Ruth) Capp of Hammond, IN, Donna (Bill) Bryan of Valparaiso, IN, Doug (Lori) Capp of New Smyrna Beach, FL, Deborah (John) McInerney of Delray Beach, FL, Don (Angela) Capp of Tacoma, WA, Diane (Dan) Corona of Porter, IN, and Dawn (Dennis) Campbell of Chesterton, IN; her fourteen grandchildren; and by her twelve great-grandchildren.

She is also preceded in death by her siblings, Ben, William, and Beverly.

Bettye was a member of the Porter United Methodist Church, where she loved singing in the choir. She worked as a secretary for Catholic Family Services for many years. She also enjoyed reading and completing crossword puzzles. She will always be remembered for her favorite Bible verse, Proverbs 3:5-6; Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.

The family will have a private memorial service at Porter Methodist church for church members and family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Porter United Methodist Church, 100 E Beam St., Porter, IN, 46304.
