Visitation and Service Friday for Anne Louise Hattery, 99

Anne Louise Hattery (nee: Gaydos), age 99 of Chesterton, IN, passed away February 6, 2016.

Anne was born in Gary, Indiana on October 30, 1916.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Virgil B. Hattery; parents Anna and Paul Gaydos; sisters, Julia Ce Bulky, Helen Klich, and Gay Murphy; and brother Paul Gaydos.

Anne graduated from Lew Wallace High School in Gary in 1936 and worked for a time as a secretary in Chicago before marrying Virgil. Anne’s early passion was making a happy, loving home for her beloved husband, Virgil. She enjoyed all aspects of homemaking, excelling at cooking, baking, canning and freezing.

As years passed, she added oil painting to her daily schedule and became very proficient at that, too. In her later years Scrabble and reading consumed her waking moments before her lengthy evening prayers.

Anne is survived by loving nieces and nephews; Gerald Klich of Valparaiso, IN, Joanne Lascoe of Romeo, MI, Paul (Sue) Gaydos of Ewa Beach, HI, Carole (Ralph) Gonzalez of Chesterton, IN, Lee (Florence) Johnson of Monticello, IN, Shannon Murphy of Greely, CO and their families.

Anne’s cheerful spirit, words of encouragement and old-fashioned politeness will be remembered and missed by all who knew her.

There will be a visitation on Friday, February 12, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN 46304.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. with Father James Meade officiating at St. Patrick’s Church, 638 N. Calumet Road, Chesterton, IN 46304.
