Services Tuesday for William R. Kunst, 90

William R. Kunst, age 90 of Portage, passed away on Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Porter Regional Hospital.

He was born on February 13, 1926, in Chicago, IL, to Fred and Nora Kunst, both of whom preceded him in death.

On November 24, 1949, at Most Holy Redeemer Church in Evergreen Park, IL, he married Joan M. Spruit Kunst, who survives in Portage.

He is also survived by his children: Norene (Tom) Jernas of Wanatah, IN, Nancy (David) Luedtke of Holt, MI, Dirk (Carol) Kunst of Elkhart, IN, James (Susanne) Kunst of Port Huron, MI, Judy Kunst of Valparaiso, IN, and Cynthia Fronczak of Cleveland, TN.

He was also a proud grandfather of 13 and great-grandfather of 14.

He is also preceded in death by his brother, Fred J. Kunst, Jr. and by his sister-in-law, Beaulah Kunst.

William was a member of Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Chesterton. He also proudly served his country in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

He was also a member of the U.F.C.W., United Food and Commercial Workers. Fishing, camping, and flying were his favorite hobbies.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2016, at 10 a.m., at Saint Patrick Catholic Church, 638 North Calumet Road, Chesterton, with Father James Meade officiating. Burial will follow at Chesterton Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Monday, August 1, 2016, from 4 until 8 p.m., at White-Love Funeral Home, 525 South Second Street, Chesterton, with a Rosary at 7:40 p.m.
