Loretta E. Smith,
age 95 of Chesterton, passed away on August 14, 2016, at Aperion Care in
Valparaiso.
She was born on
January 8, 1921, in Valparaiso, IN, to Arthur E. and Florence Reglein, both
of whom preceded her in death.
She is survived by
her granddaughter, Laura (Scott) Horton of Chesterton, grandson Ken Smith of
Saint Charles, MO; great-granddaughters Misty Hall, Haley Horton, Cheyanne
Horton, and Michelle Horton; son-in-law, Ray Friday of Burns Harbor; and
nephews, Kent Reglein of South Bend and Ron (Lynn) Reglein of Chesterton.
She is also
preceded in death by her daughter, Marilyn Friday, her husband, Gordon
Smith, her son, Larry Smith, and her brother, Fred Singer.
Loretta was a
member of the Wesleyan Church in Chesterton. She worked as a Head Telephone
Operator for U.S. Steel for many years. She enjoyed crocheting large
blankets and delivering Meals on Wheels.
Funeral services
will be held on Thursday, August 18, 2016, at 11 a.m., at White-Love Funeral
Home, 525 South Second Street, Chesterton. The family will receive friends
from 10 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow at Chesterton
Cemetery.
Memorials may be
given to the family.
