Services Saturday for Regina C. Ward, age 88

Regina C. Ward, age 88, an area resident of Chesterton, IN, since 1961, passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2016.

She was born on September 28, 1927 in Camden Hill, PA, to Russell and Margaret (Blank) Taylor.

On June 20, 1959, she married John D. Ward Sr. in McKeesport, PA.

Regina is survived by her sons, John D. Jr. (Helen), Joseph P. (Caroline) and James W. Ward; grandchildren, Angela, John and Jack Ward; sisters, Margaret Book and Marian (Michael) Minoski; brother-in-law, Rudy Salinger; sister-in-law, Carol Taylor and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; brother, George Taylor; sister, Pauline Salinger and sister-in-law, Mary Kay Lubay.

Regina retired from Duneland School Corporation where she was a cashier for the lunch program at Liberty Elementary School. After her retirement Regina did product demonstrations for Town & Country for five years. She was a charter member of the Chesterton Women of the Moose and held several positions. Regina was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Chesterton and was active over the years at the school library, a Cub Scout Den Mother, Treasurer of the Woman’s Club, the funeral choir, Eucharistic minister, Senior Club and the National Council of Catholic Women. She also volunteered at the Waters of Duneland Nursing Home and was a member of the Lady Bugs and the Midwest Steel Senior Club. Regina enjoyed bowling, water aerobics and traveling. Her favorite vacation was fishing with her family on Big Sand Lake in Northern Wisconsin.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016, 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, with Father James Meade officiating, 638 N Calumet Road, Chesterton, IN, 46304. Burial to follow at Graceland Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. until time of mass at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church, Sharing Meadows, PO Box 400, Rolling Prairie, IN, 46371, and VNA Hospice, 2404 Valparaiso Street, Valparaiso, IN, 46383.
