Grace Eva Chambly, 91, of Wanatah, passed away Thursday, May 12, 2016 at home with her family.

She was born September 3, 1924 to Raymond and Grace (Russell) Bihlmayer.

She graduated from Clinton Township School and made a career with Westville Correctional Facility until her retirement in 1991. Grace was a longtime correspondent with the Vidette-Messenger, Times, Herald-Argus, News-Dispatch and Regional News newspapers representing the greater Wanatah area until 2011. She was a member at St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Wanatah.

Survivors include her children: Grace Ruth (Michael) Hite, Sr. of Valparaiso, Betty Jean King of LaPorte, Mary D. Spoor of Griffith, Helen Hendricks of Wanatah, Alice (Andrew) Wittenmeier of Columbus, OH, Donna Chambly of Indianapolis, Donald (Karen) Chambly of Chesterton, Crystal (Gary) Scarborough of Kouts, 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sons, Roy and Raymond Chambly, sister, Edith Kethchum, brother, Richard Bihlmayer, sons-in-law: Allan Hendricks and Sidney Spoor and granddaughter, Heather Ashley Scarborough.

A visitation will be held Saturday from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Johnís Lutheran Church, 15496 S. 900 W., Wanatah, with funeral service beginning at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Joel S. Zipay officiating with burial at St. Johnís Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the church.
