Services Friday for Iris May Pratt, 89

Iris May Pratt, 89, of Valparaiso passed away Saturday, June 11, 2016.

She was born March 13, 1927, in Kankakee, IL, to Marvin and Gertrude (Tatro) Lawson.

Iris graduated from Crown Point High School in 1947. She served as a waitress for many years for Bill Wellman and various other restaurants then made her career in the Shipping Department at Bethlehem Steel for 13 years. Iris was a member of Boone Grove Christian Church and participated in Project Care at Boone Grove High School.

Survivors include her close friend, Carl Graeber of Valparaiso, daughters: Diana (Kenneth) Pitts of Hebron, Valerie (George) Wroblewski of Valparaiso, Cheryl Pratt (Al Nevitt) of Valparaiso, daughter-in-law, Brilla Pratt of Watseka, IL, sister, Norma Jean (Everett) Davison of Watseka, IL, grandchildren: Scott (Monica) Garvey, Jayme (Dennis) McLean, Shawn Wroblewski, Kelly Wroblewski, Mandy (Kenny) Gilbert and great grandchildren: Jessica, Drew, Grantlee, Garrett, Joey, Christian, Noah and Jesse; and beloved Goddaughter, Kathryn Hope Davison.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Larry Pratt in 2013, brother, Roland Lawson and sister, Barbara Purgett, and former husband Melvin Pratt.

A visitation will be held Friday from 2:30-5:30 p.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso, with funeral service beginning at 5:30 p.m., Pastor Jim Norris officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Arc of Iroquois County (For the Mentally Challenged), 700 E. Elm Street, Watseka, IL. 60970. or Boone Grove Christian Church.

Save the date for a Celebration of Iris’s Life on Sunday, July 24, 2016, from 1:00-4:00 p.m., at “The Spa,” located at 333 N. Mineral Springs Road, just south of US 20 in Porter, Indiana.
