Service and Visitation Saturday for Florence Poppo, 100

Florence Poppo, of Chesterton, IN, who could most often be seen riding her three wheel bicycle around town, passed away at the age of 100 on Friday, February 5, 2016, at home in the presence of her family.

She was born on December 23, 1915, in Chicago, IL, to Roman and Hattie (Schweda) Nowak.

Florence is survived by her sons, Jack Poppo of San Antonio, TX, Robert Poppo of Saulk Village, IL and David Poppo of Chicago, IL; daughters, Geraldine Carpenter of Columbia City, IN, Eileen Siordia of Chesterton, IN and Alice Rodriquez of Chicago, IL; 21 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and several great great-grandchildren; and son in law, Wayne Neyhart.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Anthony Poppo; daughter, Jeanette Neyhart; grandson, Richard Siordia; sisters, Genevieve Kubow, Eleanor Hennessey, Gertrude and Virginia Nowak; daughters in law, Lupe and Ruth Poppo.

Florence was a member of the St. Ann of the Dunes Catholic Church. She was a member in the Mothers Club of the WWII Veterans. Florence was also a former member of the St. Francis DeSales in Chicago, IL.

Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of memorial service at 3:30 p.m. at Edmonds and Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN, 46304, with Father John Barasinski officiating. Cremation will take place at Heritage Crematory, Portage, IN. Private burial will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Duneland Resale Shop, 801 Broadway, Chesterton, IN, 46304.
