Private services for Olga M. Ayres, age 91

Olga M. Ayres, age 91 of Chesterton, IN, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2016.

She was born on June 10, 1924 in River Hebert, Nova Scotia to William and Mary MacKenzie.

She is survived by her sons, Ralph Ayres of Chesterton, IN, Charles Ayres of Portage, IN; daughter, Donna Brown of Chesterton, IN; grandchildren, Robert Ayres and Alec Ayres; nieces and nephews, Jim Camp, Bill, Donald, Melanie, Gorley, Robert, Doug and Peter MacKenzie and Mary Ellen Spellman and Emily Iberger; and sisters in law, Diane and Olga MacKenzie.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Donald, William and Robert MacKenzie; sister, Dora Camp; nephews, Bob Camp, Thomas Chetwood and Christopher MacKenzie.

Olga was a graduate of East Chicago Washington High School class of 1942. She met her former husband at the Maduraís Danceland in Whiting, IN, while he was serving in the U.S. Army Air Force in WWII. In 1947 she moved to New York City and returned to this area settling in Chesterton in 1956. Olga worked for Dave Carter Insurance, Dr. James Hurst DDS, and then at the Porter County Recorderís Office where she retired as Deputy Recorder. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.

Private Services will be held at a later date. Cremation services will be provided by Heritage Crematory in Portage, IN. Arrangements made by Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN 46304.
