Memorial Service Saturday for Shirley Waldo, age 80

Shirley Waldo, age 80, of Michigan City, IN, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 in Michigan City, IN.

Shirley was born in West York, IL, on January 27, 1936 to Roy and Bernice (Alexander) Ormiston.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Vernon Waldo of Michigan City; children, Brenda George of Hot Springs, AR, Brian Waldo of Chesterton, Bruce (Linda) Waldo of Chesterton, and Bret Waldo of Chesterton; brother, Ken (Joan) Ormiston of Paris, IL; sister, Mary Sue (David) Shotts of Marshall, IL; sisters-in-law, Shirley Helton and Virginia Waldo; grandchildren, Steven and Christopher George, Shalena Warner, Kesha Pilot, Stacie Oliver and Kait, Heather, Adam and Helene Waldo; nine great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Barbara; brothers, Warren and William Roy Jr.; sister, Norma Rose; brothers-in-law, Enno “Bud” Rose, Jack Helton, John Waldo and Roger Waldo.

Shirley was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She worked for over 30 years as a hairdresser and owned several shops over the years, including Chez Shiree in Chesterton. Shirley also worked as an ERA Realtor from 1989-1998. She was a talented artist; she enjoyed oil painting and was overall extremely crafty. She shared her gift teaching art at the senior center in Michigan City.

Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, December 17, 2016, at 12:00 Noon, at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN with Pastor Jack Andrews officiating.

Memorial Visitation will take place on Saturday at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at Noon.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Shirley’s granddaughter at Hope for Kesha on Facebook or directly to Kesha Pilot.
