Memorial Gathering December 3 for James J. Skeffington

James “Jim” John Skeffington, age 50, of St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, Nov. 11, 2016, at Mosaic Life Care after a long and courageous battle with bone cancer.

Jim was born October 22, 1966, in Chicago, IL.

At Chesterton High School, Jim excelled in Speech and Debate and went on to become a national awards recipient. As a young man, Jim worked at Busch Gardens, as Rainmaker. He also worked in sales and marketing for Prudential Insurance and Western Union. Jim enjoyed acting and appeared in several commercials. He also enjoyed the arts and was a wonderful musician. He was a huge dreamer and a wonderful person with a big heart.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Rita A. (Roche) Skeffington, sister Shannon Hayden, her infant daughter Elizabeth, and sister Heather Skeffington.

Survivors include Jim’s partner, Tim, of St. Joseph, father Shaun F. (Deborah) Skeffington of Chesterton, brother Shaun M. (Kerry), of Burns Harbor, two nieces and two nephews. He is also survived by his aunt Barbara Roche, of Berwyn, IL, and many cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to Moraine House, in Valparaiso, IN, or to the local American Cancer Society.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, December 3, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the community room of Villages of Burns Harbor, 331 Boo Road, Burns Harbor, IN, 46304.
