James “Jimmer” Joseph Navarro, Jr., age 53 of Porter, IN, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 surrounded by his family and dear friends.

He was born on July 14, 1962, in Michigan City, to James “Chico” Joseph and Marcia Lee (Stephenson) Navarro Sr.

He is survived by his parents; children, Maxwell Xavier Navarro of Portage, Lucille Renee Navarro of South Bend, Lucan Santiago Navarro of Porter; siblings, Marcia (Darrell) Ritchea of Porter, Martin (Rachel) Navarro of Ogden Dunes, Jeffery Navarro of Salt Lake City, Utah, Poppy-Ann (Brian) Carden of Porter; granddaughter, Ella Grace Baughman; several nieces and nephews; former spouse, Shirley Navarro and partner, Lorily Sabin.

Anyone who ever talked to Jimmer would be hard pressed to forget him. He was a man passionate about music and family. As a musician, teacher, and listener, Jimmer touched many lives and spent much of his time caring for others. He was a loving son, father and grandfather; an “awesome” big brother and fantastic uncle, but more than that, Jimmer was an adventurer. He was the kind of person who always had a story to tell because he wasn’t afraid of living. He loved knowledge, baseball, and the blues Š an old soul who found beauty in the nostalgic. He cared greatly for his loved ones, and he paved the way for his brothers, sisters and children. He will be sorely missed.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016, from 1:00 -4:00 p.m., with Sharing of Memories at 4:00 p.m., at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, IN 46304.
