Wanda Gail Bishop

August 12, 1943 - December 29, 2014

Wanda Gail Bishop, 71, the daughter of Donald and Thelma Medley, of Chesterton, Indiana passed away Monday, December 29, 2014. Wanda attended Chesterton High School, and later Indiana University, where she earned an Associated Degree in Education.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Gerald Bishop, Chesterton, Indiana, three brothers: James Medley (Hilde) of Scottsdale, Arizona, Louis Jarrett (Beverly) of Fort Worth, Texas, and Brent Medley (Ann), of Kentland, Indiana.

Wanda is survived by her husband, Billy Lott, of LaPorte, Indiana; two sons: Michael Bishop (Deborah) of Chesterton, Indiana, Jeff Bishop (Rhonda) of Knox, Indiana, and two grandchildren: Joseph Bishop and Elizabeth Bishop, both of Chesterton, Indiana; and one brother: Morris Medley of Walkerton, Indiana.

Many years ago, Wanda and I (Billy) set a goal: to visit all fifty states. That goal fell short by two states: Alaska and Hawaii. While we didn't achieve our goal of visiting all fifty states, we were blessed to have experienced the unique geographic beauty of the forty-eight contiguous states, and much of Canada. The beauty we saw was breathtaking, and those experiences enhanced our lives in countless ways.

We took our grandchildren on many of these trips, as we both believed the exposure to the many cultures throughout the country would enhance their maturation - and we believe that was accomplished. To Joe, Liz, Channara, Kolade, Tya, Rodney, Ricky, Salena, Luis, Brandon, Little Ricky, Adah, Harlie, Justin and Austin, Wanda will forever be known as "Grandma." Wanda, we will all love you until forever ends.

There will be no visitation or services. Cremation will take place and private family burial will be at a later time.

The Ott/Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Michigan City, IN, is handling arrangements.
