Thomas Andershock, formerly of Chesterton, dies

Thomas Andershock of San Antonio, Texas, (formerly of Chesterton) passed away unexpectedly on January 28, 2015.

He was born on April 1, 1949, to George and LaValle Andershock, who preceded him in death.

Tom attended St. Patrick Catholic School through 8th grade and graduated from Chesterton High School in 1967. After graduation he spent the next 23 years serving his Country with the United States Army. His tours of duty included Cambodia, South Korea and Germany. He was later stationed at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio. After retiring from the Army, Tom worked for many years at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio.

Tom is survived by his wife, Mary Rose, of San Antonio and children George Andershock, Susan (Bruce) Andershock-Horan and Tom (Denise) Andershock. He was blessed with three beautiful grandchildren - Nicole, Amber and Michael. Tom had three stepchildren, Rosemary, Michelle and John and several step-grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters in Chesterton-Sue (Norm) Harris, Gayle (Ed) Surgener, and Karan (John) Schnadenberg as well as several nieces and nephews. He is also sadly missed by his lab, Millie.

Tom will be remembered for his love of God and Country, his family, and his passion for baseball and fishing.

A Catholic service and visitation was held in San Antonio on February 3, and a Military Funeral at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on February 6.
